Research & Analysis:
Energy Transition & Permaculture Website
Did you know that Canada has an Energy Transition Plan for transitioning away from non-renewable sources of energy towards renewable sources? It’s called Canada’s Energy Transition: Getting to our Energy Future Together (Generation Energy Council, 2018). ETEC 565E really helped to build my Energy Literacy by expanding my understanding of the challenges that a society’s shift towards more sustainable forms of energy poses, as well as the importance of examining and teaching energy literacy in both the humanities and sciences. The topics of energy transition and climate change are often approached by focusing on all the problems and negative data. However, in order to have a positive, collective impact on addressing these issues, we need to make sure that we are spending time learning, imagining, and exploring solutions. In addition, building this website and creating lessons with my team continued to provide me with practice with integrating technology into learning experiences.
